The cuts are a result of Labour's economic legacy - the events in the Eurozone have shown what happens if you don't deal with national debt, Italy with a similar sized economy is a case in point.

Labour has no plan to deal with the debt crisis at home or abroad. They would have arrived in Brussels suggesting that they increase national debts as a way of solving the problem.

Labour in Leicester are tearing themselves apart, with Sir Peter hell bent on settling old scores. Leicester needs real leadership which our city will not get from this divisive Mayor.

Not a bad piece but Labour cannot be held as an example of sticking to pre-election promises!!!

As for tuition fees, remind me, who brought in tuition fees? What are the standards of education of those who went through Labour's education system 25% are illiterate!!! Shocking figures.

Minor note last word 3rd line from last. It is MPs not MP's & I spotted that without the benefit of a University education.

Labour also proved yesterday in the vote of the EU referendum that they out of touch with the majority (70% according to Guardian poll) of the public (including young people) who want a referendum on our relationship with EU.

Labour is just the same as it was.

This will probably not get posted anyway. Debate is good for democracy.

Hi Anne, the only details we have are as follows:

"we have made sure that we have a full days programme with something for everyone. As well as being a great opportunity to share best practice ideas, listen to guest speakers and take part in Q&A and training sessions, the conference is also a great place to meet up with colleagues from across the region.

This year's conference will be attended by Shadow Cabinet Ministers, MPs, trade union officials and party members."

You can contact the Regional Labour Party at http://www.eastmidslabour.org.uk for further info and also to book a place.

Lord Mayor, I saw with interest your comments on the T.V. last night regarding the `Golden Mile` and noted with interest on your plans for it. May I suggest that you take a good look around the city and in particular the Northgate/Sanvey Gate area parts of which are in a dreadful state with burnt out buildings some of which have been there for several years. I am ashamed when I invited friends from the north of the country who have to come via the A50 into the city and the see awful state of this area.

Fair enough Jon is a great candidate and local candidates were present but some were not... so you have to ask why did the NEC get involved with the shortlist?
But my point is that in order to refound Labour we need to look from top down and allign our representatives with our loyal voters who are our foundation. Until that is done we will have more representatives who are ex lawyers, bankers and political party workers and few who have connections to our foundation vote. Is that refounding?
Maybe the only glimmer of refounding has to be electoral reform starting with support for AV!

There were credible and long standing members of the local Leicester Labour Party in the final selection in Leicester South. The result was determined by over 150 local Party members at a selection meeting and it was fairly conclusive.

Refounding Labour is a genuine attempt to change things and it will certainly not succeed or bring change if people do not take part in it.

The manipulation by the NEC of the Leicester South shortlist shows what a utter sham this refounding is. The party has its most loyal support in the working class yet they have been consistantly denied the chance to create shortlists from which to select their representatives from. So in Leicester South you have a party staffer for your next MP, the anti EDL protests were so strong, but where is Leicester's voice when it comes to Labour?
