Rose Griffiths
I know Aylestone very well, having lived in this area for over forty years. I have a large family of grown-up children, as a former foster carer and then adoptive parent. I have been a teacher (mostly maths), a teacher-educator, a researcher and a writer – always focused on people. I now work part-time as a university professor of education.
I have particular expertise in education and children’s services, and a strong interest in housing, transport and the environment. I will work both in the interest of Aylestone residents and for the City as a whole.

I have strong family connections with Aylestone and know the area well. My dad was John Pawley, who played football locally and was in the England Under-21’s team.
I have worked for law firms in London on several pro bono projects. Since coming back to Leicester, I have worked for social enterprises and charities, particularly for vulnerable groups. I now work for a local charity in Leicester which supports people who are homeless.
Like many local people, I was a keen volunteer during the pandemic. Aylestone has a strong tradition of community support and I will look for ways to strengthen and maintain this.
